WELCOME TO VALLE DEL SOL ELEMENTARY

Our mission is to provide a quality education through shared responsibility in a safe supportive environment for all students to meet the challenges of a global society.

We are committed to excellence, and we work hard to make the site a primary source for timely information for all users, and a main gateway for improved communication between parents, teachers, students and other members of our community. Our goal and responsibility is to help each student develop an enthusiasm for learning, a respect for self and others, and the skills to become a creative independent thinker and problem solver.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is that time of the year where students in 2^nd – 6^th grade get to showcase their academic proficiency on the STAR Tests.  To help your child do his or her best on these important assessments, please make sure that your student attends school each day, gets a good night’s rest, and has a healthy breakfast.  It is also imperative that your student arrives on time to school each day.  This will allow your child the opportunity to be prepared and ready to perform at his or her best.  Any testing student that arrives after 8:15 a.m.will be required to make up the test on a different day.  Testing will occur each morning prior to lunch, so please make any needed appointments after testing periods.  Also please encourage your student to relax and do their best.  With extra encouragement and motivation from VDS teachers, parents, and students, we are confident that all of our Meerkats will perform at their highest level and demonstrate their academic abilities. 

Our VDS sports teams and ASES competitors continue to have outstanding seasons.  The coed softball team, coached by Mr.Ramirez, demonstrated their Meerkat pride and took home the 3^rd place trophy during the softball tournament. The track team, led by Mr. Bryant, had numerous 1^st, 2^nd,and 3^rd place finishers at the district and regional track meets.  Lastly, the ASES Red Hot Ballroom Dancers,choreographed by Ms. Lopez, performed with amazing grace and agility during their dance competition at Desert Mirage High School.  We would like to recognize and congratulate each member for all of their hard work and for doing their best during their sporting events and competitions.

            May 6-16:  STAR Testing for 2^nd– 6^th Grade Students

            May 11:  Saturday School from 8:00 am –12:15 pm

            May 17:  ASES Evening Under the Stars @ 6:00 pm in the Cafeteria

            May18:  Saturday School from 8:00 am –12:15 pm  

            May23:  Coffee with the Principal @ 8:15 am in the Library   

            May27:  No School – Memorial Day Holiday

            May29:  VDS Talent Show @ 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm in the Cafeteria

            June7:  Student of the Trimester in the Cafeteria(for select students)

            June 11:  Kinder Promotion @ 9:00 am in the Cafeteria

            June13:  6^th Grade Promotion @9:00 am in the Cafeteria

            June12, 13, & 14:  Minimum Days.  Students are dismissed at 12:35 pm
